1. Drink 8 glasses of water each day
This is really simple to explain. Your body weight is made up of around 70% water. So it is not rocket science to work out that you need to be putting a good quality supply of water back into your body.
There is currently some argument that drinks like Coke and Coffee can now be considered as a part of your daily intake. I am sure there are some good arguments to justify that stance if you are looking at it from a “fluid replacement” point of view.
However most drinks that are not just water contain varying amounts of chemicals and calories. Your digestive system has to decide what to do with the chemicals and then process them. This puts strain on your digestive system.
The calories are from a clinical point of view an unnecessary part of your water replacement needs. Now I am not going to take a hard line here and suggest you never drink anything other than water - I like a beer, glass of wine and coffee as much as the next person.
On the other hand, if you are looking to loose weight and or increase your overall health, then taking a look at what you drink is a great start. See if you can substitute a glass of water for the odd cup of coffee or can of coke, you will be on the way to a healthier way of life.
2. Eat breakfast
This is really a no brainer. Unfortunately there are some people who explain that this might be a good idea.
Your body has been starved of food for around 8 hours, and your body has used most or all of your ready to go energy supplies - carbohydrates). You are about to embark upon the day, which means activity at a much greater rate than while you are asleep. This is when you really need to have some supplies of carbohydrates to supply the fuel your body most wants to use.
If you choose to keep your body in a state of fasting, its response will be to slow its metabolism down as much as possible to conserve energy. What this means in reality is you will feel really tired or fatigued, as your body is really telling you to slow down untill you replenish its energy sources.
So eating breakfast, to break your fast will really set you up for the third topic…
3. Eat at least 3 meals and 2 snacks each day
OK so heres the thing, your body is pretty smart at working out how to deal with the food you eat. If you eat small frequent meals and particularly if they are a variety of healthy foods, your body will process them quickly and discard anything it does not have an immediate use for.
The only fat it will store is the minimum it requires for your body to operate efficiently. Naturally if you are eating too much some of the excess food also get stored as fat.
On the other hand if you eat large and infrequent meals, your body is never quite sure when the next supply of energy is coming, so it stores everything it can, just in case there is another long break between meals. Guess how it stores that food - as fat.
As previously mentioned, your bodies Metabolism will slow right down. You can increase your metabolism by putting these simple steps into place. There are also a number of other ways to increase your metabolism and I have written a book to explain that. You can pick up a copy of that book by following this link.
So it is a great way to get your weight loss happening, eat more often to eat less.
These three things are really meant to give you a starting platform to work from. If you can develop some good drinking and eating habits, then you can work on changing the actual foods you eat to reduce your calories and subsequently loose even more weight.
Remember loosing weight is a simple formula; eat less calories than what you burn in a day and you WILL loose weight.
The difficulty is in changing your bad habits, and commencing a diet that is not only, healthy but is also one that you will enjoy and stick to.
Rome was not built in a day so lets build some habits that will see you get there in good time with sustainable and healthy habits.
I Hope You enjoyed this article and have a great day.
